Album Review: Low Tides by This Wild Life

This Wild Life is back at it again with a second full length album that released today. Low Tides can be purchased on their webstore, Amazon, iTunes and at your local record store. You can also stream their album off of Apple Music and Spotify. This Wild Life is a pop-punk acoustic duo from Long Beach, California composed of Anthony DelGrosso and Kevin Jordan. Both DelGrosso and Jordan created this album with the help of Aaron Marsh of Copeland and Jason Suwito of Sir Sly producing Low Tides. The 10 song compilation has four singles released by the band, “Pull Me Out,” “Break Down,” “Hit The Reset” and “Falling Down.” Each music video has a unique, artistic style to it that’s whimsical. The list of songs for the album is:

  1. Hit The Reset
  2. Pull Me Out
  3. Break Down
  4. Let Go (Feat. Maya Tuttle)
  5. Just Yesterday
  6. Fade
  7. Falling Down
  8. Red Room
  9. Change My Sheets
  10. Brick Wall

Prior to the album release, Jordan and DelGrosso live streamed a new song off of the album every night on Facebook. It was refreshing to see a band being so passionate to show their new songs on a different publication and live of course. Seeing their live streams helps display the talent that both men have.

Now, my judgement on the band is a bit clouded (there’s the pun) about the band, but I can hear talent. This Wild Life is so distinct for their acoustic sound and emotionally touching lyrics, and their album does not fall short of excellent. From the emotional ballad of “Break Down” and “Just Yesterday” to their more upbeat pop-like song “Falling Down,” their variety as a band and evolution shows within this new album. The instruments of “Falling Down” is what makes this track different from other others on the album. It’s nice to hear drums and a more upbeat tempo, similar to “405” off of Clouded. The fact that This Wild Life has each track transition into each other beautifully. This Wild Life has influences of Copeland with the stringed instruments, something that gives me chills. This is one of my favorite albums released this year by a band.

This Wild Life will be touring in the United States in honor of their album being released. This Wild Life will headline and have Movements and Have Mercy open for them. Be sure to pick up tickets to your local This Wild Life show if you’re interested. Ticket information and tour dates can be found here.

In other news, As It Is has posted a photo on Instagram saying “Please Stand By” which has many confused but excited. Also, Green Day released a second song, “Revolution Radio,” off their upcoming album Revolution Radio.

Rock on, stay humble and be positive!
