Album Review: “Lovely Little Lonely” By The Maine

The Maine is a rock group from Tempe, Arizona. 2017 marks their 10th year as a group. The Maine released their album, Lovely, Little, Lonely on April 7, 2017 via. 8123.

Before and during the recording process of Lovely, Little, Lonely,  The Maine created a docu-series called “Miserable Youth.” The docu-series showed the process The Maine went through for the album. It was interesting to see the process a band would go through. It was unique that The Maine took their fans through the process. (I wrote a blog post about the series here.)

The singles that released prior to album debut were: “Bad Behavior,” “Black Butterflies and Déjà Vu,” and “Do You Remember? (The Other Half of 23). “Bad Behavior” had a music video release prior to the album’s debut. Didn’t read my review of “Black Butterflies and Déjà Vu?” Check out my review here.

Here is the track list:

  1. Don’t Come Down
  2. Bad Behavior
  3. Lovely
  4. Black Butterflies and Déjà Vu
  5. Taxi
  6. Do You Remember? (The Other Half of 23)
  7. Little
  8. The Sound of Reverie
  9. Lost in Nostalgia
  10. I Only Wanna Talk To You
  11. Lonely
  12. How Do You Feel?

I’ve been a fan of The Maine since Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop and this album was nothing short of fantastic. Lovely, Little, Lonely was one my personal list of highly anticipated albums. Each week of “Miserable Youth” made me more excited for the album to be here. What also got me excited for the release was the counting down for the album on The Maine’s social media allowing people to listen to small portions of each song.

I enjoyed the fact that The Maine felt comfortable making an album they seem super proud and enthusiastic for Lovely, Little, Lonely. Each song is quality and sticks to The Maine’s roots of being pop- rock. The moment I heard each single, I knew this album was going to be amazing. My favorite part about the album were the songs “Lovely,” “Little,” and “Lonely” for the fact they were interludes transitioning one song from another. One of my favorite parts about listening to an album in its entirety is seeing if the group used transitions from song to song which The Maine did.

The Maine will be going on a world tour in honor of Lovely, Little, Lonely. Tickets and tour information can be found on their website themaineband.com. Make sure to tweet me @ovictoriamedia telling me your favorite off of Lovely, Little, Lonely.

In other news, Sykes released the music video for “Glimmer,” Falling In Reverse said that it will be playing two days at the 2017 Vans Warped Tour via. Twitter, Cold War Kids released their latest album LA DIVINE with a song featuring Bishop Briggs, K. Flay released Every Where Is Some Where today, and Eat Your Heart Out is signed to Fearless Records. The news was announced via. Facebook.

Rock on, stay humble, and be positive!
