Concert Review: Paramore @ Radio City Music Hall

Paramore is a ‘genre neutral’ band from Franklin, TN. I attended the Paramore show in New York City in Radio City Music Hall on Oct. 4.

Opening for Paramore was Best Coast. I got to the venue near the end of Best Coast’s set. I waited on line and purchased an All We Know Is Falling vinyl and got to my seat. After waiting a half hour, Paramore took the stage. Here is the setlist:

  1. Hard Times
  2. Ignorance
  3. Still Into You
  4. Daydreaming
  5. Forgiveness
  6. Brick By Boring Brick
  7. Playing God
  8. That’s What You Get
  9. I Caught Myself
  10. Hate To See Your Heart Break
  11. 26
  12. Told You So
  13. Everywhere (Fleetwood Mac Cover)
  14. Fake Happy
  15. Misery Business
  16. Ain’t It Fun
  17. Caught In The Middle *ENCORE*
  18. Scooby’s in the Back (Halfnoise Cover) *ENCORE*
  19. Rose- Colored Boy *ENCORE*

Everytime I see Paramore perform, it’s always an emotional experience. When Paramore slowed down the set with “26” and “Hate To See Your Heart Break” it was somber in the venue. Paramore played a lot of songs that were popular like “Misery Business,” “Ain’t It Fun,” “That’s What You Get,” “Hard Times.” Paramore is great with connecting with the crowd and letting fans know that it’s okay to feel sad. I wish that Paramore played a song or two from their album All We Know Is Falling and expanded their setlist adding two or three more songs. If you have yet to see Paramore live, I highly recommend it.

In other news, Vinyl Theatre released a new song “Me, Myself, and I” and Knuckle Puck released “Want Me Around.” Check out those new songs and let me know what you think about them by tweeting to me @ovictoriamedia.

Rock on, stay humble, and be positive!

The Release of ‘Paradise’ by Broadside

Known for songs like “Coffee Talk” and “Storyteller,” Broadside has been taking the music scene by storm since their release of their first album Old Bones. The Virigina natives have toured with Real Friends, Forever Came Calling, State Champs, and many more bands. Broadside played at the 2016 Vans Warped Tour and went from a small stage to playing main stage in Las Vegas. It’s safe to say that they’ve grown to a bigger stage for a reason.

Broadside released Paradise, their second full length album, today. The singles released prior to the album were: “Puzzle Pieces,” “Hidden Colors,” “Paradise,” and most recently “Laps Around A Picture Frame.” Here is their track list:

  1. Hidden Colors
  2. Paradise
  3. Lose Your Way
  4. Disconnect
  5. Laps Around A Picture Frame
  6. Who Cares?
  7. Tunnel Vision
  8. Summer Stained
  9. Miss Imperius
  10. Puzzle Pieces
  11. I Love You, I Love You. It’s Disgusting

The album was exactly what I anticipated it to be. It was piggybacking off of Old Bones with songs like “Lose Your Way” and “Tunnel Vision”. This album showed growth with songs like “Laps Around A Picture Frame” and “Paradise.” Broadside did a great job with sticking to what they know, but bringing a fresh sound to the album. I liked the fact that instrumetally the group added the whistle and ukelele. Vocally, it was great to hear Dorian Cook’s vocals and hear Oliver Baxxter’s voice more vulnerable, especially in “I Love You, I Love You. It’s Disgusting.” The vocals are powerful and the messages behind the songs shows concepts of finding your own paradise and empowerment. It’s a great album. I want to congratulation Oliver Baxter, Niles Gregory, Pat Diaz, and Dorian Cooke for putting out one of the best albums for the summer. This album was exactly what I anticipated it to be. It had the right dose of pop punk and such a great piece of work.

If you haven’t checked out Broadside yet, I highly recommend checking out their music. I’ve seen Broadside perform with State Champs in the “Home For The Holidays” tour, at the 2016 Vans Warped Tour, with Forever Came Calling on a fall tour, and recently with Real Friends. I can’t wait to see them tour again and play more songs off of Paradise.

Broadside is nominating in this year’s Alternative Press Music Awards in the category of “Best Underground Band.”

What’s your favorite song off of Paradise? I’ve been loving “Laps Around a Picture Frame,” “Miss Imperius,” and “I Love You, I Love You. It’s Disgusting.” Let me know what’s your favorite by tweeting to me @ovictoriamedia.

Concert Review: The Maine @ Webster Hall NYC

The Arizona rock group, The Maine has been touring across the United States for their album Lovely, Little, Lonely which came out in April 7.

The “Lovely, Little, Lonely World Tour” is accompanied by Beach Weathers and Mowglis as The Maine’s opening bands. Tickets and tour information can be found here.

I got the chance to see The Maine perform live in New York City at Webster Hall. I’ve been to Webster Hall for a few shows like PVRIS and State Champs, so I knew the setup of the venue and how much maximum capacity was. The train was running late, but I got into the city to see The Maine in time!

I just want to discuss the setlist. I had a great time dancing and singing along to old and new hits. I wish there were a few new songs they played like “Taxi” or “I Only Wanna Talk To You” and some older hits like “Into Your Arms,” “You Left Me,” or “We’ll All Be,” but overall I enjoyed the set. I loved seeing “(Un)Lost,” “Lost In Nostalgia,” and “We All Roll Along.” Here is their setlist:

  1. Lovely
  2. Black Butterflies and Déjà Vu
  3. Am I Pretty?
  4. Like We Did (Windows Down)
  5. (Un)Lost
  6. My Heroine
  7. We All Roll Along
  8. The Way We Talk
  9. English Girls
  10. Take What You Can Carry
  11. Lost In Nostalgia
  12. Right Girl
  13. Raining In Paris
  14. Girls Do What They Want
  15. Diet Soda Society
  16. Do You Remember? (The Other Half Of 23)
  17. Bad Behavior
  18. Another Night On Mars

I’ve seen The Maine perform with Mayday Parade in 2012, twice at Warped Tour, and twice after the release of American Candy. This was the fifth time seeing The Maine, and everytime I see them I get such amazing vibes from the group.

The Maine have a great stage presence. John O’ Callaghan has a way of getting everyone engaged in the songs whether they know them or not. The crowd was electric and sang every word of the song. I love the fact that The Maine lets people live in the moment and is so humble for every experience they have. Being apart of The Maine’s show was wonderful and unforgettable. I hope that The Maine tours for their album Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop next year.

In other news, Broadside released their first single “Puzzle Pieces” off of their upcoming record Paradise which will be released on June 16. You can pre-order the album here and see them tour with Real Friends now! Fall Out Boy released a new song “Young And Menace” and will be releasing a new album and touring. The album, Mania will release on Sept. 15 and the tour begins in the fall. Moose Blood announced a US Tour. Tickets and tour information can be found here. Grayscale released “If I Ever See You Again,” Blink 182 released a song “6/8” this week, and Of Mice & Men released a single “Unbreakable.”

What a rad week in music! Rock on, stay humble, and be positive!
