Two Loses This Week

This year, we’ve lost a lot of music legends. From Prince to David Bowie, it’s been a sad year in the music industry. This past week, two people have passed away in the Alternative music scene. Tom Searle of British metalcore band Architects passed away overnight of August 20, 2016. Searle was diagnosed with melanoma cancer in 2013 and battled until this year. Searle was 28, a young and talented songwriter, lyricist and guitarist. Architects will continue to tour in Australia within the next few weeks. The band set up a page that fans can donate to https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/thomassearle.

In addition, former 3 Doors Down original member Matt Roberts passed away on the same day, August 20, 2016. The 38 year old died in a hotel in Wisconsin. Roberts was in Wisconsin to perform at a charity event for veterans. The cause of death is still unknown, but Roberts struggled with anxiety and an addition to pain medication. Roberts was a successful guitarist for 3 Doors Down from 1996 until his departure in 2012.

In other news, State Champs announced that they will be going on a Europe tour in 2017, Austin Carlile’s lung collapsed while he was on stage mid-set and finished the show, Of Mice & Men debuted their new song “Real,” Sum 41 released a new song “War,” Taking Back Sunday unveiled a new song “You Can’t Look Back,” and Underoath confirmed tour plans for 2017. Other than the updates, the wise lyrics from Mayday Parade feel important to put in this blog post. “Don’t forget to tell the one’s you love they matter,” you never know what life throws at you. Be appreciative, spread positivity around you, and above all else make sure you yourself is okay.

Rock on, stay humble, and be positive!
